The idea for the Norfolk Tea Stop cake about when Antony (owner of Vintage Partyware) and Mark (owner of Nelson and Norfolk Tea) got chatting at the Sandringham Flower Show. Both of us have a passion for the style and decadence of the 30s through to the 50s. Being able to recreate and share the romance of the era with others across the county appealed to both of us, and what better setting than a traditional village hall or fair?
Antony lives in his family home in North Wootton, Norfolk. His business, Vintage Partyware, is a wedding and party hire company with tons of vintage china, props, and decorations. Antony worked creatively at a number of universities before deciding to set up Vintage Partyware through his love of all things vintage.
Mark is from North Walsham, Norfolk. He is a professional Tea Master with 25 years experience, and spent time at both Harrods’ and Fortnum and Mason’s Tea departments before creating Nelson and Norfolk Tea.
The Norfolk Tea Stop will serve traditional Afternoon Teas, cream teas, homemade cakes and a selection of Mark’s Nelson and Norfolk Tea, (as well as coffee), served on Antony’s vintage china. There’ll also be milkshakes and iced teas for the younger ones.
We will be travelling across the county, making Stops at village halls and high streets as we go. We are currently looking at further locations having made our first Stop at Brancaster Staithe. We are not restricting ourselves to just one corner of the county and you will also find us at events too.
People can expect to be transported to a bygone era when experiencing the Norfolk Tea Stop. One of style and sophistication. Antony will decorate the hall with genuinely vintage props and decorations, table linen, and supply vintage china, cutlery and napkins. Mark will supply an array of Tea blends to choose from and expertly brew these. There’ll be vintage music in the background adding to the stylish ambience and we will work with local bakers and cake makers to provide traditional homemade cakes. You’ll be waited on with a traditional table service too! We hope that in time we will be making regular stops at locations each month.
